Barnsley are awaiting a response from Daniel Bogdanovic after offering the striker a new contract.
The Malta international had been in talks with the club about extending his current deal, which is due to expire at the end of the season.
Tykes director Don Rowing told the Sheffield Star: "We have spoken to his agent and we are waiting for a response."
Meanwhile, midfielder Emil Hallfredsson has been called up to the Iceland squad for next week's friendly in Cyprus.
