Bristol City manager Gary Johnson has confirmed Sheffield United are in talks with Michael McIndoe.
Johnson expects the winger will complete a move to Bramall Lane in the "next couple of days", but Blades manager Kevin Blackwell would not be drawn on the matter.
Johnson told City's official club website: "Macca is talking to Sheffield United, he hasn't been training with us. I expect that deal will go through in the next couple of days, but that's all I can say at this stage."
Scottish winger McIndoe, 29, arrived at Ashton Gate on a free transfer from Wolves in August 2007 and made over 90 first-team appearances for the Robins.
Meanwhile Blackwell expects to complete the signing of Kyel Reid once the former West Ham winger has passed a medical.
Reid, an England Under-19 international, was a free agent after his contract at West Ham expired earlier this summer and the Blades have won the race for his signature ahead of half a dozen rivals.
Blackwell, who has offered Reid a two-year contract, said: "Kyel is one who will be joining us. He's having a medical and is then going to sign."
