Blues gets Shrews

By PA Sport  June 21, 2006
Birmingham have drawn Coca-Cola League Two side Shrewsbury at home in the first round of the Carling Cup.

The Blues, relegated from the Premiership at the end of last season, were finalists in the competition as recently as 2001, when they also started in the first round.

Fellow relegated clubs Sunderland and West Brom both have away trips to look forward to. The Black Cats face Bury at Gigg Lane while Bryan Robson´s Baggies take on Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road.
