Middlesbrough defender Andrew Taylor is due to finally undergo surgery on a double hernia on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old was scheduled to have his operation last week, but the procedure had to be cancelled because medical staff were unable to get to work because of the bad weather.
Taylor has not played a senior game since September, when he damaged ankle ligaments, and his latest problem means he has as yet been unavailable to new manager Gordon Strachan.
Strachan is currently working to strengthen his squad with Boro understood to have agreed fees with Celtic for Gary Caldwell and Barry Robson and discussed loan deals for Willo Flood and Chris Killen.
Midfielder Didier Digard has joined French club Nice on loan, while Mohamed Shawky is expected to compete a switch to Turkish outfit Kayserispor.
