Without doubt one of the surprise packages in the Championship this season has been Bristol City. Gary Johnson's men are no longer in with a chance of automatic promotion following their 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United last week but they have exceeded all expectations this term by securing their place in the play-offs. One of their most consistent performers this season is right back Bradley Orr, who on Sunday was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Season. Orr arrived at Ashton Gate as a central midfielder but a switch to full back two years ago has proved an inspirational decision manager Gary Johnson. Givemefootball's Mark Shail caught up with Orr at the PFA Awards dinner to get his thoughts on what has been an outstanding campaign.
Q:
CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING NAMED IN THE TEAM OF THE YEAR, YOU MUST BE VERY PROUD?
A:
It's a massive achievement to be named in the team and I am very proud of course. I'd just like to say a big thank you to my manager and my teammates because without them this wouldn't have been possible.
Q:
THE MOVE TO RIGHT BACK HAS PROVED A BIG SUCCESS FOR YOU?
A:
Yes, since I moved to right back my career has really kicked off on a personal level. The gaffer was the one who decided to put me there so he deserves a lot of credit for that. Of course it helps when you are playing in a good side with experienced players like Louis Carey, who talk to you all the time. There are a lot of people I'd like thank and I'm grateful for those players who voted for me.
Q:
THERE'S STILL A CHANCE OF PREMIERSHIP FOOTBALL FOR BRISTOL CITY NEXT SEASON – WHAT WOULD THAT MEAN TO YOU?
A:
It would mean the world to me. That's the ultimate goal for any player and it would certainly me the highlight of my life and hopefully we can make it with Bristol City this season because we're still in with a great chance.
Q:
THE CLUB'S PLAY-OFF PLACE IS SECURE BUT ARE YOU CONCERNED THAT THE RESULTS HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTING OVER THE LAST MONTH?
A:
Not really because even though we were beaten at Sheffield United last weekend the performance was an improvement and it's nice to be going into our last game against Preston with no pressure on our shoulders and hopefully we can play some good football. If we can put in another good display that will give us some momentum going into the play-offs against whoever we will be playing. We can't afford to look backwards and be in the dumps. We have to pick ourselves up, look forward and be positive.
Q:
DO YOU HAVE ANY PREFERENCE AS TO WHICH SIDE YOU COME UP AGAINST IN THE PLAY-OFFS?
A:
No, we will just see what happens and whoever we play we'll give it 100 per cent and try to reach the final. Our mind-set is going to be absolutely crucial. We're going to have to stay strong mentally if we want to see this thing through to the end.
Q:
ARE YOU DISAPPOINTED THAT AN AUTOMATIC PROMOTION SPOT HAS NOW SLIPPED AWAY?
A:
Not finishing in the top two is hard to take because we've been up there challenging for so long. Losing to Stoke a couple of weeks ago was a big blow but it's not over for us – we still have a chance of promotion.
