Birmingham manager Steve Bruce will welcome Jermaine Pennant back to the club and help him "settle back into normality" after the troubled star was released from prison on Thursday.

The 22-year-old, on loan at St Andrews from Arsenal, was released on parole after serving a third of his three-month sentence for drink-driving offences and will wear an electronic tag as part of his parole, though he is available to play and train straightaway.

Bruce told the club´s website: "We are delighted that Jermaine is back with us again and I´m pleased that this chapter of his life has been concluded. Myself and everybody at the club will be doing all we can to ensure that Jermaine settles back into normality as soon as possible."
