Sir Bobby Charlton believes Wayne Rooney can have the same impact on this summer´s World Cup as Pele had for Brazil in 1958.

Almost half a century ago, Pele arrived on the world stage as an unknown teenager and departed destined to become the greatest player the game has seen. And, while Sir Alex Ferguson has cautioned against the hype surrounding his young striker, Charlton cannot help but embrace Rooney´s star quality.

"I am looking forward to the World Cup because I believe Wayne Rooney could be one of the major finds in world football," said Charlton, one of only two Englishmen to win both the World and European Cups.
