Leicester captain Stephen Clemence will step up his comeback from injury determined to impress manager Nigel Pearson.

The 31-year-old, who has yet to feature under Pearson since his arrival last summer, had been ruled out for 18 months with a persistent heel injury but will play for the reserves in the Westerby Cup Challenge final against Barwell.

"I wish I had more chance to really work under the gaffer," he told the Leicester Mercury. "The club now is so much more organised than the day I arrived from Birmingham."

He added: "One thing that has been instilled in this club since Nigel came here is a winning mentality. Nothing else is good enough for him.

"I am sure some of the players may have thought going up a league is it possible to get into the play-offs? But Nigel makes us believe it is."
