Manager Nigel Clough has made light of Derby's injury problems ahead of the Rams' pre-season trip to Devon.

Defender Dean Leacock (groin), winger Kris Commons (hamstring) and forwards Steve Davies (foot), Rob Hulse (groin) and Chris Porter (leg) all missed Saturday's defeat to Chesterfield, while midfielder Paul Green limped out of the Derbyshire FA Centenary Cup clash with an ankle problem after opening the scoring in the 2-1 reverse at Saltergate.

"The injuries are starting to pile up a little bit but we are just being precautionary with some of them as we have a lot of games between now and the start of the season," said Clough. "Hopefully they are all short-term ones and we are only talking days and weeks.

Derby travel to Devon on Tuesday where they will play three pre-season friendlies in the space of five days against Yeovil (July 21), Torquay (July 23) and Exeter (July 25), but Clough is confident that most of his walking wounded will be able to play some part in the south west.
