Blackpool defender Danny Coid has signed a new two-year contract with the Championship club.

The 27-year-old, who joined as a trainee in the summer of 1998, also has the option of extending his stay at Bloomfield Road by a third year.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be staying for at least another two years," Coid told the club`s official website.

"The length of the contract is longer than I thought I would get, but negotiations with the chairman and the new manager went well and I am made up to be staying here."

Manager Ian Holloway added: "I am delighted he has signed again for us. I have played and managed against him and I know he is a good player. He is loyal and he works hard and I can`t wait to get to work with him.

"He wants to be at Blackpool and I am confident that I can develop him as a player and that he will enjoy what we do. He is a tremendous kid and he will do well for us."
