Swansea defender Matty Collins has signed a new two-year deal to keep him at the Championship club until 2011.

And the 23-year-old, who joined from Fulham in the summer of 2007, is keen to establish himself as a first-team regular next season after having missed a large part of the recent campaign through injury.

He told the club's official website: "I'm delighted. I was told midway through last season that I would be offered a new deal but with all the uncertainty surrounding the manager it was always in the back of my mind that it may not happen."

He added: "Last season was better than my first at the club and I intend to keep that progression going. At my age and at this stage of my career I need to be playing on a more regular basis.

"I feel my game has progressed significantly over the last two years at the club, especially as I've switched from midfield to right-back. I feel comfortable there now and I believe I am ready to kick-on.

"I love the club and I am proud, especially as a Welshman, to be offered the new deal. It's a great club and I really want to kick on here."
