Swansea have completed the signing of Sheffield United forward David Cotterill on loan with a view to a permanent move.

The 21-year-old Wales international trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Tuesday and has penned an initial loan deal until January 4 - when he is expected to sign a three-year contract.

"I've moved to Swansea for purely footballing reasons," he said.

"It was very frustrating at Sheffield because I wasn't playing regularly - and any footballer will tell you there is nothing worse."

Swans boss Paulo Sousa said: "He has the attributes I expect from a player in his position. He brings quality and different characteristics to the squad that will help us improve."
