Coventry have agreed a deal to sign central midfielder Gary Deegan from Irish Premier Division champions Bohemians in the January transfer window.

The Dublin-born 22-year-old arrives on a three-and-a-half year deal and will link up with the Sky Blues on January 4.

Deegan found the net five times for Bohemians in 34 appearances last term during a campaign in which they played in the Champions League and he earned a place in the 2009 PFAI team of the season.

Coventry manager Chris Coleman told the club`s official website: "We are delighted to have secured Gary's signature and we believe we have acquired not only a very good technical footballer but also a very tenacious and hard-working one as well, who will compliment the players we already have here.

"There were a number of other clubs interested in Gary`s services so it was important we moved quickly. I`m very much looking forward to working with him when he becomes eligible for us in the new year."
