Coventry have completed the signing of Martin Cranie from Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee.
The defender, who was part of the England Under-21 side that reached the European Championship final this summer, completed a medical at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday after it was announced a deal had been struck between the two sides.
He said: "It feels great to be here to be honest and hopefully now I am here I can impress. I've been out on loan in the Championship before so I know what this league is all about. It's a bit more physical and frantic than the Premier League but it's still an exciting league to be in and hopefully I can help Coventry push towards promotion."
Cranie has penned a three-year deal with the Sky Blues and will provide much-needed cover due to his ability to play either centre-half or at right-back.
Manager Chris Coleman added: "Martin's a player we've liked for some time, he's young and he's got it all ahead of him. He's proven himself at England Under-21 level so he has the kind of quality we want to bring here and I'm very much looking forward to working with him."
