QPR defender Damien Delaney has joined Championship rivals Ipswich for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old Republic of Ireland full-back has put pen to paper on a two-year contract at Portman Road after former Town boss Jim Magilton, now in charge at Rangers, allowed him to leave.

Delaney made 59 appearances for the Hoops, scoring three goals, after moving to west London from Hull in January 2008. "I'm looking forward to the next step in my career at Ipswich Town," he said.
