Boss Roberto Di Matteo praised Roman Bednar on his return following a drugs ban as West Brom booked their place in the third round of the Carling Cup with a 4-3 extra-time win at home to Rotherham.
Bednar was handed a three-month suspension by the club in May after he was caught in possession of cocaine. That ban expired this week and after Di Matteo turned to him as a 64th-minute substitute on Wednesday night, the Italian boss praised the striker's return to the side.
"I think Roman did well," he said. "He has been out for a while so it was a good game for him to start and get his match fitness back and I think he will get better with every game now. He is part of our plans."
