Doncaster chairman John Ryan has revealed Rovers will try and sign Billy Sharp on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

The Sheffield United striker is proving to be a big hit during his loan spell at the Keepmoat Stadium, and scored his eighth goal in as many games at the weekend. Sharp, who has been linked with a move to Barnsley in January, is due to stay with Rovers until next May.

Ryan told the Yorkshire Post: "He has a loan deal until the summer and does not have to go to any other club if he does not want to. He has assured me that he wants to stay here and will make a decision on his next move in the summer."

He added: "That is excellent news for Doncaster Rovers and we will definitely throw our hat into the ring again at the end of the season."
