Southampton are still waiting for Swansea to meet the asking price for winger Nathan Dyer - but a deal is getting closer.
The 21-year-old joined the Swans on loan in January and now wants to make a permanent switch to the Liberty Stadium, but the Welsh club have yet to match Saints' valuation.
"Nathan Dyer is still waiting to see what Swansea decide to do and we are waiting for their chairman to make a better offer, but we are getting closer," said Saints boss Mark Wotte.
"If Swansea really want Nathan then they have to improve their original offer and then perhaps we can complete a deal.
"He has told me he really wants to stay there so if Swansea can come up with the money then he will go there and I can accept that."
Wotte also revealed young midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has been the subject of interest from clubs in the Premier League.
