Sheffield United assistant manager Sam Ellis has refused to rule out automatic promotion for the Blades despite their defeat at play-off rivals Burnley.
Martin Paterson headed the game's only goal in the first half to end United's long unbeaten away record and leave them four points adrift of second-placed Birmingham with two games left. The South Yorkshire side had been undefeated on the road since a 1-0 loss at Sheffield Wednesday on October 19.
Ellis said: "If we win on Saturday then the pressure is on Birmingham to win their game."
He added: "Burnley were better than us. It's not a bad reason is it? It happens in football matches.
"We knew they'd be a good side from the cup runs they had and the league position they're in, and there's no shame in coming here and being second best. I'm just disappointed that we were."
The Blades play Swansea at home on Saturday and take on former manager Neil Warnock's Crystal Palace on the last day, while Birmingham's remaining fixtures are against Preston (home) and at Reading.
