Robbie Neilson has had his contract at Leicester cancelled by mutual consent.
The defender made 32 appearances for the Foxes since signing for the club from Hearts in 2009.
Neilson struggled for first-team football last season and joined League one side Brentford on loan in February.
A statement on Leicester's official website said: "Robbie now heads off for a new challenge with the best wishes of everyone at the football club, who would like to thank him for his outstanding professionalism and commitment over the last two years."
