Nigel Pearson revealed his players were low in confidence after Leicester were comfortably beaten 3-1 by Bristol City.
Ivan Sproule put the visitors in front with a fine individual striker, Cole Skuse doubled the Robins' lead and Evander Sno slotted in a third before substitute Matty Fryatt grabbed a last-gasp consolation after Martyn Waghorn had seen red.
``It was very disappointing,'' Pearson said. ``It was so important that we scored the first goal, but we ended up conceding two goals in quick succession and the players' confidence seemed to be affected after that."
He added: ``Our confidence seemed a bit fragile and we've just got to work through that.
``I thought the players were in a positive frame of mind after the defeat at Forest, but key events didn't go well for us.''
