Sheffield Wednesday have handed Ryan France a trial with a view to offering the former Hull midfielder a permanent deal.

France 28, won promotion three times during his time at the KC Stadium after being signed by former Tigers manager Peter Taylor from Alfreton Town in 2003.

Wednesday manager Brian Laws said: "Ryan is a hard working player who has played in each of the four professional divisions of English football and he is also a Sheffield lad, so I'm very pleased to be able to see how he performs on trial this week.

Laws added: "If he impresses then we may be in a position to offer him a deal at Hillsborough.

"It's an important week with the players returning to training, so we'll have a clearer picture of what could be at our disposal in the coming days."
