German club Hannover have announced that they have signed Middlesbrough defender Emanuel Pogatetz on a three-year deal.
The Austria international, a former Bayer Leverkusen player, is out of contract on Teesside at the end of this month and has been in talks over extending his stay for some time.
However, Hannover claimed to have clinched a deal. "Emanuel is an experienced player who can also play on the left of defence," said coach Mirko Slomka.
"He will expand our options in defence greatly."
