Preston have taken up a one-year option on goalkeeper Wayne Henderson's contract for next season and have added a further option for another year.

Henderson is now fully recovered from the back injury which kept him out for over a year and has been in the squad for every game this season.

North End manager Darren Ferguson said: "Wayne was coming to the end of his contract, so we had to look at it. He's done well in training; obviously he's not played as much football as he would have liked, but hopefully we have seen the end of his injuries with his back."

He added: "He's trained really well and is pushing Andy Lonergan all the way. So, we've got him signed up to give him another year, so we're all pleased."
