Kevin Blackwell has revealed that Sheffield United’s crippling injury problems may have eased by the time the Championship returns to action after the international break.

In the Blades’ last eight games they have lost no less than NINE players through injury, with Matthew Kilgallon and Ian Bennett the latest pair to join the already over-crowded treatment room at Bramall Lane.

However, with United’s next league game against Peterborough not until a week on Saturday, Blackwell is hoping a number of players will be ready to return to face Posh.

“The positives are we are hoping to get a couple back after the international break,” said Blackwell.

“We know that Montgomery, Cresswell, Williamson and Naysmith could be back, and there is another I can’t remember.

So, although we lost two more against Barnsley, we will be moving into plus three territory.

“But I have never known anything like this I my career as in the last eight games we have suffered nine injuries.”
