Preston manager Alan Irvine was not too disappointed after his side battled to a goalless draw against Coventry to keep their unbeaten start in the Championship intact.

Both sides pushed but failed to penetrate, the best chance of the game coming to Sean St Ledger whose well-timed header just after the half-hour mark beat Coventry goalkeeper Keiren Westwood only for it to ricochet off the Sky Blues' crossbar.

Preston manager Irvine said: "I think it was a fair result. Both teams had a few chances but I'm a bit disappointed because we didn't play as well as we have been."

He added: "We didn't pass the ball very well and we made a lot of unforced errors.

"We made some bad decisions when we chose the wrong pass on too many occasions in the final third. But I think we deserved a point - it would have been cruel to have lost.

"But I've got to be pleased with the start, especially when you consider the things that happened last season. I'm delighted that we're five games unbeaten and we will look to continue that."
