Preston boss Alan Irvine has dismissed speculation linking him with a loan move for Tottenham's Wales international Chris Gunter.

Irvine has seen his squad stretched by injuries and is keen to bolster it with a loan signing but says Spurs fringe player Gunter is not on his list of targets.

He said: "I'm led to believe that Chris Gunter is available but I've not spoken to Harry Redknapp."

He added: "I don't know if Chris is necessarily the position that we need at this time.

"I like him as a player and certainly if it is something that we feel we need, a full-back, he would be someone that I would make an enquiry about."
