David McGoldrick admits his first season in the Southampton first team has provided him with a steep learning curve.
The 21-year-old striker, who has previously enjoyed loan spells with Bournemouth and Port Vale, took his tally for the campaign to 11 with Saints' equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Blackpool.
"I've now got 11 goals this season, and I feel I should be further up the goalscoring charts with the chances I've had," he said. "But this is my first season in the Championship and it's been a learning curve for me."
He added: "As long as we get the points though I don't care how many more I score this season, as long as we are safe."
