Ipswich boss Paul Jewell aims to bring in two or three more new faces before his side's Championship campaign kicks off at Bristol City on August 6.

Jewell has already privately identified the players he wants and is trying to lure them to Portman Road, with Lee Bowyer, Michael Chopra, Nathan Ellington, Aaron Cresswell and Ivar Ingimarsson having already arrived this summer.

And speaking on Wednesday, he told the club's official website: "We know we need a couple of players and we're hopeful of that happening before the start of the season."

Jewell went on to follow-up last week's revelations that he had lodged bids for an unnamed striker and winger and that a centre-half was also on his radar.

He added: "We know the players we want. We're looking for two or three players and hopefully they will be here and ready to go for the Bristol game.

"We're looking at all areas of the pitch. We know we're still short and we're determined to get the players in we need."
