Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell is hoping to learn the fate of goalkeeper Paddy Kenny next week at a Football Association disciplinary hearing.

The Blades were forced to suspend Kenny earlier in the summer when a drugs test during the club's two-legged Championship play-off semi-final against Preston in May revealed traces of ephedrine in his system, while the player insists he took nothing more sinister than an over-the-counter cold remedy.

Blackwell, considering whether to extend the loan period of Blackburn goalkeeper Mark Bunn to compensate for Kenny's absence, said: "The commission are due to hear Paddy's case on Tuesday, but having not been involved with anything like this before I don't know what the procedures will be on the day.

"It would be helpful to us if it was all sorted on the day so we know where we stand, so I hope it's not one of those occasions when those involved go away afterwards and don't deliver a decision until a later date."
