Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale has issued a hands-off warning to West Brom over Bluebirds’ boss Dave Jones.

Former Southampton and Wolves manager Jones has emerged as one of the favourites to replace ex-Baggies’ boss Tony Mowbray, who has left the Hawthorns to join Celtic.

Ridsdale said: “Dave Jones, as far as I am concerned, seems very happy here. He tells me he is happy but if any employee, whether they are players or managers, are unhappy I don’t want to keep them.

“He will have to decide if and when the hypothetical question of him going somewhere arises. I’ve had no contact with West Brom or any other club. I don’t expect Dave Jones to leave.”

Jones, who narrowly missed out on guiding Cardiff to the Championship play-offs, added: “I am the manager here at this moment in time and trying to do the best I can for Cardiff.

“You never say never because you never know what is around the corner. Not that I might go to another club, the club might get rid of me because they think I’ve taken them as far as I can.

“I’m not going to speak about anything else because I’m employed by Cardiff City.”
