Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric has dismissed speculation linking him with a return to Portsmouth.

Mandaric enjoyed a successful spell at the south coast club from 1998 to 2006 - a tenure which oversaw their promotion to the Barclays Premier League. But Portsmouth's top-flight status is under serious threat this season, and off the field they have been beset by financial problems.

"I'd like to reassure (Leicester) fans that I am loyal and am here to stay," Mandaric told BBC Radio Leicester. "I love my ex-supporters in Portsmouth but I did my job there and I finished my mission."

He added: "I took the club to where they belong but I never said I would buy the club back and never said I would leave Leicester.

"One day when I leave Leicester it will not be because I want to leave but because I have finished my mission."
