Derby boss Nigel Clough has told Rob Hulse to prove he is one of the best strikers in the Championship.

The 30-year-old former Sheffield United man turned down a £4 million move to Middlesbrough in the summer to stay at Pride Park and he has scored five goals so far for the struggling Rams.

Two of those goals came in his last game against Coventry and Clough wants Hulse to build on that fine display against Swansea tonight.

“Those two goals against Coventry will have done his confidence the world of good,” said Clough.

“He showed what a good striker he can be in this division and we want him to keep that going.”

Meanwhile, Swansea are bracing themselves for January bids from Premiership clubs for star defender Ashley Williams, with the new Wales’ captain being linked with a switch to Wigan.

And Swansea manager Paolo Sousa believes ex-Swans’ boss and now Latics’ chief Roberto Martinez is not the only top-flight manager interested in the 25-year-old.
