Watford manager Malky Mackay still wants to extend Henri Lansbury's loan deal despite him picking up a "nasty" ankle injury in the 2-2 draw at Bristol City.

City centre-back Lewin Nyatanaga received a red card for scything down the on-loan Arsenal midfielder in the 68th minute. Lansbury was stretchered off and will have a scan in the next couple of days, but manager Mackay doesn't expect it to affect a loan possible loan extension.

"It's a nasty ankle injury," he said. "But we've already opened talks with Arsenal about extending the lad's stay with us and I don't expect that decision to be affected."
