Barnsley striker Jon Macken is ready to sign a new one-year contract at the Yorkshire club.

The 31-year-old finished last season as the joint-top scorer at Oakwell alongside Jamal Campbell-Ryce, with both players netting nine goals.

"I'm looking to sign. I want to stay at the club. I really enjoyed last season, to be honest I didn't want it to end," Macken told The Star.

He added: "Of course we were struggling but we proved we can compete with the best teams and I was scoring goals as well.

"I've just got back from my holiday but I'll hopefully be going into the club next week to sign my new contract. I'm already looking forward to next season."
