QPR boss Jim Magilton insisted he was right to play with two strikers in the 1-0 Carling Cup defeat at Chelsea.

Magilton started with Rowan Vine and Jay Simpson in attack against the unbeaten Premier League leaders and despite going down to Salomon Kalou's second-half strike he was happy with his tactics.

Magilton said: "I'm not naive but that is the way I thought we could get after Chelsea.

"We were encouraged by beating Cardiff in our last game and some players may not get back to Stamford Bridge so I couldn't deny them that by resting them."
