George Burley has been urged to hand Wolves striker Chris Iwelumo his maiden Scotland call-up for the World Cup qualifier against Norway by club boss Mick McCarthy.
Iwelumo, 30, has been in red-hot form for the Coca-Cola Championship leaders this season, netting eight goals in seven matches, including a hat-trick at Preston.
McCarthy said in the Daily Express: "I can't see why the suspension (following his sending off at Preston) should make any difference. I'm sure Chris has been watched and they'll have seen how well he's been doing."
He added: "Getting fit for the international wouldn't be a problem.
"Chris has been flying on the pitch and he will be training all the time he is serving the suspension. I hope he gets a chance."
Iwelumo was sent off after completing his hat-trick at Deepdale and his three-match ban means he will not play again before Scotland's October 11 Group Nine clash.
Burley names his squad for the Norway game on Thursday and one player who can definitely expect a call-up is Birmingham forward James McFadden.
The 25-year-old scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's 2-1 win at Cardiff and his club boss and former Scotland manager Alex McLeish believes the player is finally hitting top form.
"We have not seen the very best of James in recent months because he has been working his way back to top form after injury," McLeish said.
"But now he is getting there and once again he showed what he's capable of on Saturday. He is now as sharp as he has looked all season and he is dangerous in this form. Hopefully there'll be plenty more goals to come from him, for club and country."
