Crystal Palace striker Stern John did not suffer a broken arm during Saturday's clash with Plymouth - but he is still facing a spell on the sidelines.

Boss Neil Warnock revealed his summer signing will be out for "weeks not months" after he fell awkwardly during Palace's opening-day draw at Selhurst Park.

"We've had ups and downs with him," Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser.

"First of all it wasn't as bad as we'd thought, because there's no break in the bone.

"He had a further scan and he's damaged ligaments and muscles. He'll be out, but it's weeks and not months."
