Cardiff City striker Michael Chopra says there will be no room for sentiment when he faces his former club Newcastle tomorrow night.
The 26-year-old began his career at St James’ Park and regularly travels back to Tyneside to watch the team he supported as a boy.
The Bluebirds make the long journey north in good form, currently fourth in the table after an eight-game unbeaten run, albeit 11 points behind the pace-setting Magpies.

Chopra said: “I can’t wait for the game. When the fixture came out it was the one I was looking forward to most and it seems to have come around quickly.
“Whenever I’ve got time off, I go home and watch Newcastle play. I take an interest in the club because it was where I was brought up. My friends are Newcastle fans.
“But at the end of the day you are a football player and you have to do what’s best for your football club.
“Once I step over the line I am a Cardiff City player – I’m a Newcastle fan, not a Newcastle player. I’ve just got to focus on being a Cardiff City player.”
He added: “Thankfully I’ve started to score some goals at the right time. I’ve got a lot of belief in my ability.
“I think it was 13 or 14 games without a goal and it was affecting me a bit. But I knew I had to keep going – keep creating chances.”
