Charlton boss Phil Parkinson is determined to keep midfield duo Zheng Zhi and Therry Racon at The Valley next season.

Zheng Zhi will be out of contract next month and, although the Addicks look likely to lose him, Parkinson has vowed to do his best to try and retain the China captain.

He told the South London Press: "The bottom line is he's out of contract and he's got a right to speak to other clubs," said Parkinson.

"He's in a free market but we will try to keep him. If there's a big gap between what he wants and what we can offer, then we'll shake hands and wish him all the best. But it's only right that we sit down with him, have a chat and see what can be done," he added.

Parkinson has also confirmed that no approach has been made by Plymouth for Racon's services despite the midfielder being linked with the Championship outfit.

"We've had no contact with Plymouth and we would love to keep him because he's a very good player," he added.
