We’re already more than half way through February and there are a number of players emerging as potential candidates for the PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Month award.
Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan has been a multiple nominee, and winner, already this season but in recent weeks his teammate Andy Carroll has been grabbing the headlines.
The 21-year-old bagged a brace against Cardiff a couple of weeks ago and his equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Swansea at the weekend took his seasonal tally into double figures.
Magpies’ boss Chris Hughton said: “Andy’s head is in the right place. He has no fear and wants to play. He’s still improving and developing. Andy has to add goals to his game and this will boost his confidence.”Click here to vote for CarrollBilly Sharp
Doncaster’s on-loan striker Billy Sharp won the award a couple of months ago and he continues to bang in the goals for Sean O’Driscoll’s men.
The Sheffield United man, who scored the only goal of the game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, said: “I am loving my time here. I said when I signed that I wanted to stay until the end of the season and that’s going to happen now.
“Donny play the football I love to play and they are creating chances for me. And, at the moment, I am putting them away.”Click here to vote for SharpPaul Gallagher
Leicester striker Paul Gallagher goes by the nickname of ‘Jedward’ at the club due to his likeness to the Irish twins from the TV show The X-Factor. But the £750,000 summer signing from Blackburn player doesn’t mind what his teammates call him as long as he continues to fire in the goals.
Gallagher, who scored the first hat-trick of his senior career in the 5-1 hammering of Scunthorpe at the weekend, said: “As long as I am scoring goals, they can call me what they want.
“I am also called Mr Bean by some of them because of my physique so maybe I need to go down the gym a bit more.”Click here to vote for GallagherGary Deegan
Coventry manager Chris Coleman has been praising the impact of Gary Deegan after the Sky Blues extended their unbeaten run to five matches following Saturday’s 1-0 win against QPR.
The Dubliner, signed from Irish outfit Bohemians last month, netted the only goal of the game against Rangers to see City climb to 10th in the table.
“I am delighted for Gary and he is now getting used to the pace of the Championship, which is different to what he has been used to in Ireland,” said Coleman.
“He is a good player and is only going to get better and better. Apart from his goal, he picked up a lot of the second balls and was good in possession.”Click here to vote for DeeganPFA Fans' Player of the Month award
