Portsmouth new boy Dave Kitson is confident he can re-ignite his career at Fratton Park.

Kitson has signed a three-year contract with Pompey in a deal which also saw his Stoke team-mate Liam Lawrence move to the south coast with Marc Wilson heading in the other direction. The 30-year-old was a prolific goalscorer in the Championship but has since endured a difficult two years at the Britannia Stadium.

He said: "I just want to play football again. You go to some places where it doesn't work and have to cut your losses and move on."

Kitson added: "The deal has been floating about in the media for a week or two, so I was just standing by the phone.

"I'm happy to be at such a fantastic club. I'm excited to be here and it's a fresh start."
