Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has confirmed that Posh will break their transfer record on Friday when Ryan Bennett completes his permanent move from League Two side Grimsby.

The 19-year-old has made 10 appearances since moving to London Road on loan at the end of October and will sign on full-time on Friday for a fee which will eclipse the £400,000 paid to Norwich for goalkeeper Joe Lewis two years ago.

Fry told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "Ryan's deal goes through on Friday. "It is a record transfer for the club and there are also sorts of add-ons in there as well - things like helping Posh into the Premier League and him going on to play for England. If everything in the deal were to happen it could cost us £1million."
