Preston manager Billy Davies has confirmed his interest in Celtic midfielder Stephen Pearson - and wants to sign the 23-year-old sooner rather than later. The Hoops player has struggled to make an impact at Parkhead since signing from Motherwell two years ago. However, an injury to Stilian Petrov, whom Pearson replaced at Tynecastle as Celtic beat Hearts 3-2, has led the SPL league leaders to hesitate about selling him.But Davies told the Scottish Sun: "Our understanding is that Celtic want to leave a deal for a week or two until their injury list settles. I respect that, but I have to look at what is good for Preston and we need Stephen now if we can get him."
