Preston boss Darren Ferguson will be without Danny Welbeck for Saturday's home clash against Nottingham Forest.
The on-loan Manchester United striker, 19, has been suffering from a knee injury which has swollen up again.
Ferguson said: "Danny is out. He's had a reaction to his knee again so we can forget about him."
Ferguson could also be without left-back Tom Williams after he was substituted after just 35 minutes of Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Doncaster.
Williams picked up an ankle knock and was replaced by Callum Davidson, who could now earn a starting role, while striker Jon Parkin has been passed fit after a minor knee complaint.
Winger Ross Wallace could miss out again with a hamstring injury and will be assessed closer to kick-off.
Former Preston captain Paul McKenna will miss out on a return to Deepdale.
The Forest skipper, signed from North End in the summer, could be ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury against Swansea last weekend.
However, another former Preston player Kelvin Wilson, along with joint-top scorer Robert Earnshaw, return to the squad.
Defender Wilson missed the win over Swansea with knee and ankle problems while Earnshaw was not risked in that game after complaining of discomfort in an Achilles.
After defeats at Leicester, Doncaster, Coventry and Derby, Billy Davies` side will be looking to halt a four-game losing run on their travels - a sequence that has seen them fail to score a single goal.
