Reading director of football Nick Hammond insists he expects Steve Sidwell to remain at the club despite growing speculation the midfielder is set to join Barclays Premiership rivals Charlton. The highly-rated 23-year-old, who has one year left to run on his existing deal, established himself as one of the best midfielders outside the top flight last season as his performances helped the Royals cap a record-breaking campaign by lifting the Coca-Cola Championship title.Charlton are believed to head a long line of suitors looking to prise Sidwell away from the Madejski Stadium, and the former Arsenal trainee is allowed to hold talks with interested clubs because of a clause in his contract.
