Gary Johnson has been praising the versatility of rising midfielder Cole Skuse – a player the Bristol City boss believes could do a job anywhere on the pitch.

The 23-year-old came off the bench to deputise for injured full back Bradley Orr, who limped of 18 minutes into last weekend’s game at Barnsley.

And the Bristolian showed his all-round skills by producing a composed performance in the 3-2 win at Oakwell, a result that lifted the Robins into the play-off places.

“I reckon I could play Cole Skuse in just about any position and he would do a good job,” said Johnson.

“He is a very talented footballer and has that versatility you need to play in a number of different roles.

“When Brad was injured, Cole was the natural choice to fit in the right back position and I thought he did very well in that role.

“He is a decent defender and, because he is a natural athlete, is able to go from box to box easily. I will have no hesitation in playing him there again if I need to.”
