Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez insists he was not fazed by Southampton's attempts to lure him from Turf Moor this summer.

The England under-21 international was the subject of several bids from the Saints but Rodriguez reiterated that his sole focus was on playing football for the Clarets.

Asked whether he was affected by Southampton's interest, Rodriguez told the Lancashire Telegraph: "No, I just kept myself to myself."

He added: "Nothing really affects me, I just concentrate on my football, working with the team and working up the league as a team. That's what I try to do and what I'll always try to do.

"The club that I'm at, I work hard for the team and look forward to every game I play.

"That's the best thing to do, to play football, and that's all I want to do."
