Doncaster have become the first club to express their interest in Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford.
The 25-year-old, who scored 34 goals last season, was placed on the transfer list last week after rejecting a new contract at Elland Road.
"We would be interested in Beckford after we heard he was available but he might be out of our budget but we will monitor that," assistant manager Richard O'Kelly told his club's official website.
The admission of interest comes on the same day that Rovers revealed they had failed in a big to sign Beckford's Leeds team-mate Neil Kilkenny.
Doncaster were told by Leeds boss Simon Grayson that Australia international Kilkenny was not for sale after they inquired about him.
"He (Grayson) told us that Neil still figured in his plans so at this time that's as far as it's gone," O'Kelly added. "As with every player at every club, they all have a price, so it's an ongoing thing at the moment and we will see if anything happens."
