Reading have signed Stoke full-back Andy Griffin on loan until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old has played more than 300 games in his career and will add some much-needed experience to Brian McDermott`s youthful squad.

McDermott told Reading's official website: "Andy was skipper at Stoke and won promotion to the Premier League there so he has got great pedigree."

He added: "I feel we need a right-back and he can play that role so I`m sure he will be a good signing for us."

Griffin will not be eligible for Wednesday`s FA Cup replay against Liverpool but could make his debut against in-form Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
